However, financing new trains is not the endgame. Their asset stewardship role includes management of assets to ensure performance, safety and long-term suitability over their full economic life.
About the team
The successful candidate will be joining the fleet function, a multi-disciplinary team that supports corporate and project governance, risk management and audits of train operating companies, suppliers and internal processes. The team is part of the Operations Directorate reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. This role reports to the Head of Technical Services.
Role Purpose
Manage the fleet cyber security strategy and associated delivery to ensure assets are protected and fleet engineers are equipped with the latest guidance on emerging threats and cyber security best practice. The role is very much about managing the specialist suppliers and will also involve contract management.

Responsibilities
• Management of the Fleet cyber security strategy in line with TS 50701 & IEC 62443-3-2
• Introduce, then keep updated, a cyber security baseline assessment for each fleet platform
• Cyber security risk assessment of asset modifications
• Promotion of cyber security best practice
• Supporting customers with their cyber security requirements under the NIS Directive
• Support the engineering team with ERTMS cyber security
• Ensure new builds and existing asset systems are resilient to cyber failure/compromise, working in collaboration with the supply chain
• Ensure the Management of Change Procedure and all changes take full account of cyber security risk
• Determine Fleet cyber security requirements for new train procurement and existing fleet upgrades
• Engagement with industry bodies on emerging cyber security guidance
• Supplier/product assessment of new technologies, designed to better secure the fleet
• Support the Digital Engineering department to ensure that asset data is appropriately secured throughout the data pipeline, on vehicle, during transmission and at rest
• Work with the Safety, Standards & Environment team to ensure integration of cyber security standards & procedures are integrated into the Management System
General Requirements
You will have an engineering background with a detailed understanding of digital technology, rolling stock systems engineering and related cyber security of assets.
